Children react to a commercial featuring an interracial couple:
In the video above, the children didn't notice that the family featured in the commercial was interracial. When asked if anything was atypical about the family, the children weren't able to pick anything out.
- This shows that children aren't naturally racist and that racism is heavily dependent on how one is raised and the environment they leave in.
- However, some children aren't exposed to interracial families and would not find this "typical."
- It is important to expose children to multicultural literature that features interracial families. Children will then see interracial families as a normalcy rather than an atypical situation.
